I received this pillow today and, upon opening the package, was shocked to find it has a HEAVY chemical smell. I have a talalay latex mattress topper that does not contain any chemicals or fillers...100% natural. It does not have the awful chemical smell of this pillow. Whether you are chemically sensitive or not, I would not recommend that you purchase this pillow. Also, packaging says the zippered outer cover can be removed for laundering. There is no zipper!

I was looking forward to getting my 2 pillows but when I opened the pillow sack there was a strong latex smell. The smell has faded some but I have had the pillow for over one month now. I have purchased latex pillows in the past and have never had this strong smell. The pillow isn't as dense as I expected either, very floppy. I do like the size of the pillow and have decided to use it as a side-lying pillow so I don't smell it.

1st -- the smell is nothing unusual for a FOAM pillow. FOAM does SMELL LIKE FOAM (for awhile). the smell could prob be offensive to some that aren't use to it... may take lots of airing out and fabreeze depending on the person. but, to me, it was expected. the smell was a bit strong so I did spray with fabreeze and air out a couple of hours. It was good enough to sleep on it that first night.
This pillow was to replace an old traditional foam pillow that had lost it's bounce/firmness over the years. I had started getting neck aches and knew that it was time to replace.
I loved this pillow for the first couple days... then my neck aches returned and I was having difficulty getting comfortable to sleep. About the forth night, I grabbed an old memory foam pillow (which I didn't like in comparison to my old traditional foam pillow). fell right to asleep and woke up fine.
I sleep in the middle of the pillow. The shredded foam in this pillow would get displaced, compromise it's firmness/support. I would have to fluff it. Then I started to feel the "lumps" under my cheek. I am a side/side-stomach sleeper. I am a bit like the princess-and-the-pea when it comes to getting comfortable to sleep. The lumps where horrible under my cheek!!! couldn't get comfy!!
My husband uses it though & seems to like it. He is a back/side sleeper. He tends to sleep on the edge of the pillow where there is more firmness. He said that when on his side, sometimes he doubles it over to increase the firmness.
I received a new pillow today--- the Z by Malouf ZONED MEMORY FOAM Pillow - king - high loft-firm. hopefully I will fall in love with the new pillow....
